Neighborhood Meeting Will NOT Be Held at the Park

Hello Highlands neighbors: We invite you to join the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Pompano Beach District as we observe “National Night Out Against Crime,” an annual event designed to strengthen our neighborhoods. As the event will take place on Atlantic Blvd, there will be NO meeting at the Highlands Park this Tuesday

“National Night Out” aims to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs and, most importantly, sends a message to the criminals that our neighborhoods are organized.

This is a perfect opportunity to get to know the BSO deputies who patrol your streets and unite with your neighbors in the fight against crime. As a show of support on “National Night Out”, citizens are encouraged to turn their lights on.

This year’s “National Night Out” event will be on August 5, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm at the Pompano Beach City Hall, located at 100 West Atlantic Blvd.

Hazardous waste and electronics recycling will take place this Saturday at 301 N. Andrews Avenue in Ft. Lauderdale. Now that we can no longer use the county facility, these events take place in rotating cities. The drop-off time is Saturday, August 2 from 9 am to 2 pm.

Commissioner Burrie is hosting a reception at Galuppis restaurant (near the golf course), on Thursday August 7, from 5:30 to 7:30. Please RSVP (954) 809-9013.

August 5 Meeting Will Be Held at Pompano Beach City Hall During National Night Out

Hello Highlands neighbors,

National Night Out (NNO), a nationwide public safety awareness event, takes place the first Tuesday of August each year. Once again this year, our monthly PBHCIA neighborhood meeting will take place at the city-wide NNO location, the open field just east of City Hall. There will be no meeting at the Highlands Park on August 5. More details on the city-wide NNO will be provided.

This Saturday, July 19, the BSO will hold the inaugural Public Safety and Security Expo. The event will be at the Emma Lou Civic Center tomorrow from 10 am to 5 pm. See :
for more information.

Finally, we have been informed that BSO has joined a website allowing residents to view crime reports in their neighborhood. Just go to the website, select the state of Florida, and click on Broward County Sheriff for an interactive map.
